County Marquees

May 31, 2013 Posted by James Bishop Clients

Who

County Marquees

County Marquees have over 25 years of experience in the provision of marquees and associated furniture in the Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire area. Based in Maidenhead, County Marquees cater for every kind of event that may require a marquee and/or marquee furniture from Weddings, Private Parties and Anniversaries right through to corporate functions such a company kick-offs, Christmas parties and product launches. County Marquees take a proactive approach and will complete a site survey before each installation in order to ensure marquee suitability.

If you have a requirement for a marquee, or need furniture for an event (marquee or no marquee) then give Matt Ratcliffe a call on 01628 770363 or visit the County Marquee website.

Why

Previously, County Marquee’s website had been in place for several years, having been designed and constructed by a friend of a friend. When new, it was fine and doing the job it needed to do. However, over time, and with little development, both in terms of imagery, content and optimisation, the site slowly became outdated. A contributory cause of this decline was the lack of content management. The old site did not easily allow access to the business owner, so updated content and imagery was difficult to add.

Matt at County Marquees approached Proactive Web via a referral from Tim Embleton of Time Independent, independent financial advisors in the Reading area. We had a face to face meeting at the Proactive Web offices, and went through the requirements. The simplicity and accessibility of the ProactiveWeb package did the job, and Matt decided to go ahead. Monthly support from us, at a cost of £25/month, means that the site continues to grow, as well as being hosted, backed up (twice, in two different locations), and maintained in terms of search engine optimisation.

When

The new County Marquees website went live at the back end of 2012 and took 2 weeks from start to completion. The old site was initially used in terms of text and some of the imagery. Proactive Web worked under our own steam for the bulk of the project, leaving Matt to carry on with his business.

What

The project was essentially a migration of an old site into a new site; one that is more modern, functional and accessible. Along the way, we created a revised logo. We also administered DNS settings with the existing domain registrar so that we could host the site. We also considered some basic search engine optimisation (SEO). This is becoming more of a focus now, and we have continued to tweak the site towards a stronger performance in the search rankings. We are not providing a full SEO service, but have advised Matt about the kind of things he can be doing to help, such as creating additional backlinks to the new site from other, related websites. Blogging isn’t for everyone and it can be difficult to get your head around if you’re not really used to telling people what you’ve been up to. But adding fresh, relevant content to your site via blogs will help if you are keen on improving your search ranking. Here at Proactive web, we encourage our clients to blog regularly and will work to identify subjects on which a post can be created.
